Web design that brings you work
A website should do one job: turn the people who find you into people who contact you. We design and build sites for small businesses that load quickly, read clearly on a phone, and make getting in touch obvious.
What we mean by custom design
Plenty of cheap websites are a template with your logo dropped in the corner. They look like every other site built from the same theme, they carry code for features you will never use, and that extra weight slows the page down. We design from scratch around what your business actually does and who it is trying to reach.
That does not mean reinventing everything. Some conventions exist because people expect them — a phone number top right, a menu that behaves normally, buttons that look like buttons. Familiarity is not the same as templated. The design work goes into hierarchy, clarity and pace: what a visitor sees first, what they understand within five seconds, and what they are invited to do next.
What every site we build includes
- Mobile first. Most small business traffic arrives on a phone, so we design for the small screen and scale up rather than the other way round.
- Fast loading. Lean code, compressed images and no unnecessary scripts. Speed affects both how many visitors stay and how well you rank.
- Clear routes to contact. A phone number, a form, or a booking option always within reach, on every page.
- On-page SEO from the start. Proper page titles, descriptions, headings and structured data — built in, not bolted on later.
- Accessibility basics. Readable contrast, keyboard navigation, alt text on images. It is the right thing to do and it helps your ranking.
- Analytics. So you can see how many people visited and what they did, rather than guessing.
Bigger builds
Not every job is a brochure site. A good share of our work is larger systems, and the same team builds those:
- Online shops. Product pages, categories, stock levels, discount codes, delivery rules and card payments. You manage products yourself, or we do it.
- Booking and quoting systems. Customers pick a slot or build a specification and you get the enquiry already qualified.
- Customer and trade logins. Password-protected areas with different prices, documents or downloads depending on who has signed in.
- Large multi-page sites. Dozens or hundreds of pages, structured so people and search engines can both find their way around.
- Connections to what you already use. Stock systems, accounting software, CRMs, mailing lists and payment providers.
There is more on shops and bigger systems here. These are quoted individually according to the agreed scope, because the work depends entirely on what has to connect to what. The monthly hosting, support and editing side stays the same as any other site. The editor demo shows a simple landing page because it is the clearest way to see how editing works — ask and we will show you the bigger builds.
How the process works
- A conversation. We talk about what your business does, who your customers are, and what you want the site to achieve. Usually half an hour on the phone.
- Content and structure. We agree the pages you need and what goes on each one. If writing is not your strength, we help.
- Design and build. We build the site and send you a link to review it privately before anyone else sees it.
- Revisions. You tell us what to change. We change it.
- Launch. We connect the domain, set up SSL, submit the site to search engines, and it goes live.
- Afterwards. Hosting, updates, backups and changes depend on your agreed service scope. Check the current plans and your contract for what is included.
How long does it take? A single-page site is usually live within a week or two. A larger multi-page site takes two to four weeks. The main variable is how quickly you can get us your content — photos, service descriptions, opening hours. Sites stall on content far more often than on build time.
Do you need a website if you have social media?
A social media page is rented ground. The platform decides who sees your posts, changes the rules whenever it likes, and can suspend an account with no meaningful appeal. A website is yours. It shows up in search results, it works for people who are not on that platform, and nobody can take it away or start charging you to reach your own followers.
The two work best together: social media for reach and personality, a website as the place people land when they are ready to actually buy something.
Common questions
Can I update the site myself?
Included hosting, maintenance, support and content changes depend on the service plan and scope you agree. Check the current available plans and pricing; your accepted order confirms included work and any additional charges.
Who owns the site?
You own your domain name and your content. The site is built for your business and stays with your business.
What if I already have a website?
We can rebuild it, or take over hosting and maintenance of what you have. It depends on how old it is and what it was built with — worth a conversation either way.
