Splash Builder

Start free from a template, change the design and pages, save to a free account and publish.

Open Builder

Get started

Splash Builder is free to start, with no account: open the Builder and choose a template for your kind of business, or let Splash draft your first three pages. Until you sign in, your website is kept in that browser only: clearing its data, closing a private window, or some browsers (Safari, for example) after 7 days without a visit will remove it. Create a free account or sign in from the Builder and it moves onto your account, with nothing lost.

Putting it online needs a free account and Splash Builder Free (no card): your website goes online at your splashnodes.com address, with up to 3 pages and 40 photos and a small “Powered by Splash Nodes” link. Splash Builder Premium adds your own domain, removes the link and allows up to 6 pages and 75 photos; its price, free trial and the trial’s conditions are on the Builder plans page and at checkout. Pages made by our team belong to a purchased website build.

Have your logo, photos, opening hours, contact details and page text ready. Use images you have permission to publish. Decide which page should be the homepage and what visitors should do next, such as call or send an enquiry.

Templates and design

Choose Templates in the tools column to see the templates again. Use its look changes the colours, type and layout of every page and keeps your words, pictures and pages. Start again replaces your pages with the template’s, and only works before your website has been published.

You can also ask Splash for a design change, for example “make it dark green”, “use serif headings”, “a wider layout”, “rounder corners”, “more space” or “use the café template’s look”. Splash changes every page straight away and offers Undo.

Edit pages

  1. Open Builder and choose an existing page, or select + New page.
  2. Choose a page template or a blank page, then give it a meaningful name and address. Select Create page. Use index.html for your homepage. Avoid changing an established page address without considering links that already point to it.
  3. Open the page editor. Select the text or image you want to change and use the available editing controls.
  4. Add suitable ready-made sections, such as reviews, opening hours, questions or a callback form. Remove unused sample content.
  5. Check the saved status before leaving the editor. Saved to your account. Not live until you publish. means your edits are a draft on your account; Saved in this browser only. means you haven’t saved to an account yet.

Keep content readable on a phone. Check button destinations, image descriptions and contact details as well as appearance. Builder uses the supported sections and controls; it does not accept arbitrary custom scripts.

Details and SEO

Use the business-details screen for shared information such as your business name, phone number and address, then choose Save details. Review the pages that display those details before publishing.

Use SEO health to find missing or inconsistent page information. Give each page a clear title and description that match its content. A clean report is a publishing check, not a promise of a particular search position. Our SEO basics explains the wider work involved.

Publish

  1. Review the whole page, including forms and the bottom of the page.
  2. Choose Publish at the top right. The first time, the Builder offers Splash Builder Free (no card) if your account has no website plan yet. If your pages use a detail you haven’t filled in, such as your address, it says so first: add it in Details, or publish and it’s left out.
  3. Wait for the success message. A saved draft is not confirmation of publication.
  4. Open the public address in a separate browser window and check the actual result. Test the contact action and phone layout.
  5. Use the publish history to check when pages were published and whether the operation succeeded.

Your domain

Open Address. Your splashnodes.com address is shown there. Connecting your own domain needs Splash Builder Premium (it is included with websites we build). Under Use your own domain, select a domain you own or enter another domain.

For a domain managed by Splash Nodes, Connect for me applies the supported setup. Otherwise, choose Connect and add the displayed A records for @ and www with your DNS provider. Use the actual IP shown in your account and preserve email records.

Follow the status from Waiting for your DNS through certificate setup to Live. Use Check now after correcting DNS. Disconnecting a custom domain removes that address from the site; it does not cancel the domain registration.

Problems and exports

Changes are missing: check the save message, publish the intended page and refresh the public version. Domain is waiting: check authoritative nameservers and conflicting website records. Editor access is unavailable: check the signed-in account and service status before ordering anything else.

For a website built for you, the download option depends on the ownership conditions shown in your account and terms. Publish the intended version before downloading. Do not assume the same export entitlement applies to standalone Builder. Keep copies of your own text and images, and contact support with the page name and error if you need help.
