Getting started with Splash Nodes

How to get into each service and what to do first. Everything you have is on one page at dash.splashnodes.com.

Your domain

  1. Registration usually takes a few minutes. We email you the moment it is done.
  2. Manage it at names.splashnodes.com: DNS records, the owner details and auto-renew.
  3. To use it with a Splash service, open the domain’s DNS and pick the service under “Connect a service”. The records are added for you.

Your website (built for you)

  1. We will be in touch within 48 hours to start on your website, usually sooner.
  2. Have your logo, photos and a few lines about your business ready. That is all we need to begin.
  3. Hosting, SSL and backups are included. There is nothing to set up yourself.
  4. Extras on your order, such as the AI assistant or booking, are switched on as part of the build.

Splash Builder

  1. It is ready now. We have added starter pages for you to edit.
  2. Open design.splashnodes.com, click any text or picture on the page to change it, then press Publish.
  3. To use your own domain, go to Address in the editor, type the domain and press Connect.

Web hosting

  1. Open sites.splashnodes.com and press Set up hosting: choose your domain and PHP version (8.3 suits WordPress and most sites). It takes about a minute.
  2. You then get a “Hosting is ready” email with your SFTP login. Save that password, as we cannot show it again.
  3. Manage everything at sites.splashnodes.com: Files, Databases, PHP version, Cron jobs, FTP users, Redirects and Deploy from GitHub.
  4. To install WordPress or another app in one click, use Apps.
  5. Free SSL is issued for your domain once it points at your hosting.

Splash Mail

  1. Create your mailboxes at mail.splashnodes.com, such as [email protected]. Each new mailbox’s password is emailed to you once, so save it.
  2. If your domain is with us, open its DNS in Domains and choose Splash Mail under “Connect a service”. This adds the mail records for you.
  3. Read and send email in your browser at webmail.splashnodes.com.
  4. On your phone or in Outlook, add an account with your full email address and password. If it asks for server settings, use inbox.splashnodes.com: IMAP port 993 (SSL) for incoming, and SMTP port 465 (SSL) or 587 (STARTTLS) for outgoing.

Your VPS

  1. Your server is built in a few minutes. You will get an email with its IP address, username and first password.
  2. Sign in with: ssh username@your-server-ip. Change the password when you first sign in (type: passwd) or add your SSH key.
  3. Start, stop, restart or reinstall it any time at sites.splashnodes.com.
  4. Outgoing email ports (25, 465, 587) are blocked by default. Reply to us if your server needs to send mail.

Phones

  1. We set up phone lines and numbers for you and will be in touch within 48 hours.
  2. Your numbers, users and call settings will appear in your dashboard once they are live.

Billing and your account

  1. Invoices, payments and your account balance are at billing.splashnodes.com.
  2. Switch on auto top-up so a monthly fee never catches you out. Services that cost us money to run, like mailboxes, pause if the balance cannot cover them.
  3. Everything you have is on one page at dash.splashnodes.com.
